With or without you

A bullock cart is supposed to be pulled by bullocks. But bullocks seems to have deserted this man. So now its upto him to move his cart around. This rather peculiar moment was very well captured by Satyesh and you can see the post here. I found it really interesting and tried to focus on the man and his cart in this painting.

Title - WIth or without you
Size - 11 x 15 inch
Medium - Watercolor on paper
Photo - Satyesh Naik

Somedays back Crystal cook had posted some of her high school work and dared everybody else to post theirs. Recently I got hold of the photo of one of my paintings from high school. One of my friends from school took this picture and surprised me with it. It was done when I was 13. Its oil on canvas. The canvas is quiet huge. I guess around 3 x 4 ft. I remember when I was doing this painting the canvas was as big as I was. :). This painting still hangs in the ante rooms of my school.

I had done quiet a few paintings while I was in school. I really dont know where they are hung now. I hope to keep getting pleasant surprises like this one. :)

I like the way you've kept this work light and delicate. I love the two trees on the left and the suggestion of something fading into the distance behind them.

Wonderful, Prabal. And, look how talented you were even back then at 13. I am amazed at the wonderful artists I get the pleasure of knowing here on Blogger. I love your work, Prabal.

I love your paintings - They really give me a feel for your surroundings and they make me want to visit your country one day. I like the palm leaves and the shadows and light too, and the splash of red! The title is perfect too!

Now that's just fantastic! The whole post is Prabal. The new painting is so beautiful, you always have such great concepts. That's another thing I think you do well with your paintings: storytelling. It's awesome. And YAY for posting your high school work!!! How cool! It's beautiful! So glad you found it. :) I hope you get another surprise soon too. That piece has so much presence and maturity for a high school student, nothing like those girls in prom dresses some other artist posted. ;)

Anudeepa,
Thanks for you kind comment. I am really happy you liked my high school art work too.

Frank,
Thank you so much. From the original picture I removed some of the small roadside shops and added those trees and the something in the distance to create some interest. Thanks for noticing it.

Carol,
Thank you for such a great compliment.

Sandra,
I feel so good when you say that. Do come here to India and enjoy its beauty. That red in the original photograph was very interesting. Though red was not present anywhere else in the painting I thought of keeping it there as the complimentary color was creating interest. :)

Crystal,
I think you have a great sense of humor. Some of your posts and comments always bring a smile to my face. Thank you so much for that. I am glad you liked the painting. Most of the credit goes to the person who captured this moment through his lens.

And I think the artist who posted those girls in prom dress is a great artist. What she did in high scho0o I still cant attempt. :)

The title is just perfect as it speaks up for your subject and now i really pity the guy.:).Loved the loosely painted shadows and the whole village atmosphere.Awesome.
Your high school work definitely is commendable.Working on that size of canvas is still intimidating for me.So I would rather say Bravo!
