Karlapat

Title - Karlapat
Size - 22 x 15 inch
Medium - Watercolor on paper
This painting is done from a photograph taken by Satyesh and is inspired from this post by him. Karlapat is a wildlife sanctuary in Kalahandi district of Orissa or Odisha (new official spelling). I really enjoyed this post and wanted to paint something that would capture the feel of dense forests of Karlapat resonating with the music of streams. To be honest I thought I was not successful in doing that, but Satyesh said he liked it. Since he is the person who had been there and taken the picture I thought I'll share it.

Love this painting, Prabal.
I went to read the original post and saw the photo you worked from. I don't say it lightly - but you really did improve upon it! xx

It's beautiful Prabal! I really, really, really like the upper left corner. I love the saturated colors and the crisp outline of the building.

Now I have an assignment for you. For your next post you are not allowed to say what you don't like about it, or that it wasn't a success. I want to hear what you DO like about it, what you think you did right. k? Okay. :)

Thank you for those encouraging words.

Frank,
Thank you. I remeber the time when I had started watercolors. I used to struggle with foliage. :)

Irina,
What you pointed out had attracted me towards this scene along with the dense foliage. Water, stairs and a little house. So cosy. :)

Sandra,
As always thank you so much for your encouragement.
