Painting backwaters

Title - Alleppy twins.... Size - 14 x 21 inch.... Medium - Watercolor on paper

Title - Under Repair.... Size - 14 x 21 inch.... Medium - Watercolor on paper

First of all congratulations to all Indian cricket fans on the Cricket World cup win affter 28 long years. The world cup has been keeping me busy for all these days and hence delayed posts, replies etc.

Coming back to art now.... I had been to Alleppy in Kerela a few days back and had taken a lot of pictures out there. Almost all of them had water as an element as the pictures were taken in the backwaters of Alleppy. Now I am trying to paint some of them. And I am experimenting with the water part of it. These two are the first two of those experiments. Please leave your feedback on what you feel and what could have been done better etc etc.

Very beautiful, Prabal. You seem to do alot of traveling. Is that for your job? Or, are you just an independently wealthy artist? :)

Carol,
My job requires me to sit in front of a computer all day..Not travel. I just keep going here and there when I get an opportunity. And by the way I am a poor artists. I wish I was wealthy..

Liz,
Yes. yes yes.. India did it. Finally I am so happy. I think I'll strat watching IPL only in the later stages.
Watercolor classes initially never go very well. But one fine day everything becomes okay. You just have to wait for that day.

Prabal, the water in the first picture is incredibly realistic! I wonder, did you use another medium to get the white dry brush strokes on the water?

This watercolor is beautiful...the reflections are wonderful as well as the boats. I only paint with pastels but I absolutely love to see all the watercolor paintings!!

Sandra,
Nice way to describe the scenes. 'Watery scenes.' :)

Frank,
Yes I did use a little opaque white. But later I thought that may not have been necessary.

Carrie,

Wonderful Prabal! and an excellent attempt. Reflections are never easy; in my opinion maybe if they were a bit uneven the effect could be better, especially with the boat on the left.
Thanks for your visit , I'll try and be more regular so I don't miss out on your beautiful creations.
