Something different..

Title - Salandi
Size - 11 x 15 inch
Medium - Watercolor on paper

Well as the title suggests its actually not something different, but something that I attempted in a different way. It is a landscape after all. But I was attacking the paper more. In fact I generally do not attack paper while painting, but here I was doing that. And I was making an effort not to move away too many times from the painting to see how things are going. I would really appreciate if you leave your honest comments for this one.

Honest? Well let's see. . . the first thing that came to mind is energy. Your brushstrokes are so dynamic here, I can see that you really were attacking this! ;) I also really love the drybrush drag of your brush across the water, it loooks so sparkly.

I think this painting is beautiful Prabal. It looks a little different from your usual work, a little more spontaneous (which I think is interesting because your work always has a very spontaneous feel) and less controlled. But I really like it. :)

Prabal, this is lovely. I really like the sunlight on the water and the warm feeling of the painting. Wonderful!

I'm not sure what you mean by attacking, but my (always) honest opinion is that it is outstanding.

The far distant mountain has the right feeling of depth and the mist at its base is well done!

There are enough varying colours in the foliage to keep your eye travelling around the painting - the white around the bush on the right gives a feeling on sunlight and the bends in the river give more interest and make you think of where it goes.

The foreground on the left is dark enough to make the rest of the painting recede, but the way you've painted shadows and light makes the area interesting in its own right.

Altogether it makes an outstanding painting.

That's the long version of what I might normally say: Outstanding painting, Prabal. Love everything about it ! xx

Crystal,
Thanks for your observation..I really mean it.

Carol,
Your ever encouraging words always do good. :)

Pat,
Now that comment was majestic. :)

Anyway do any of you feel that it is a little overworked. Because at the end I felt I have been bolder, but at the same time I just did not stop at the right time and I have overworked it.

Prabal, your style is evolving in quite a wonderful way. I like the colors and varying intensity as well as the dry brush. Well done!

No, it doesn't feel overworked at all. xx

Nice one, Prabal! And hope you didn't make a hole in the paper while attacking..:D

I do taste your sweet colours. In certain occasions such this, attacking produces more pleasure.

I am always honest :0)
I love seeing work that is different sometimes, because I think that once one finds their own style, it's all too easy to stick within their comfort zone and lose there adventurous side.
You know I love your paintings - and this one I like very much too, but for different reasons. This has a looser and more energetic feel, whereas your others are more controlled. :0)

Ramesh,
If there was a hole the water would have poured out. :)

Sandra,
Thank you so much for those words of wisdom. I need to be more adventurous now enjoy it too.

I really love this piece of work as well (as well as the other one I just commented on). I am just taking a look at the pictures of your art you have posted here for the first time and before I read what you had written under it, I paused at this piece...I love the colours and the composition. Maybe the bit of autumn colours in the back reminds me of our maple trees in Canada. : )
