Eevening on Ganga

Title - Evening on Ganga
Size - 20 x 30 inches
Medium - Watercolor on paper

This painting is not something I usually do. Firstly the colors and the feel are very melodramatic. Putting a wash of pure crimson and vermilion takes a lot of courage on my part. Secondly its a full sheet painting. And this has to be done standing, which I do not really prefer (Its not such a crime to be lazy.. Right!!!). And managing a full sheet is much tougher than doing a half sheet painting. But anyway this was a good stretching I got. Literally. :)

Thanks for stopping by.

Stretching? It looks like you also flexed your artistic muscles quite a bit too. Absolutely stunning, Prabal.

This is lovely man! You have done a great job. The painting does not betray any discomfort that you claim to experience with the size of the paper or the colours.
Best wishes,

compliments on your write up, very frank and lively! the painting [not melodramatic] by any serious stretch of imagination!
Q: are the white streaks lift off from the paper or masking fluid? they add such character and highlight!

Carol, Gold Finch,
Its a absolute delight to know that you enjoyed it.

Vinayak,
Thanks. Great to know that. I also had to hide some blunders by taking artistic license. :)

Thanks Anu.

Sandra,
This place is Benaras. A very famous spiritual place on the bank of the river Ganges/Ganga. Thank you for your lovely comment.

Kathryn,
Thank you so much. If you were here we would have painted it together and then had a lot of beer breaks too. :)

LOL about the laziness! :)

It's beautiful Prabal! And I think it's interesting to see that this BIG work is still your style even though it was a tad out of your comfort zone. :) Courage indeed my friend! Well done!!

And in reading your comment to Kathryn above, wouldn't it be SO cool to get together with all these blog friends around the world and have a 'paint off'? When I become a fabulously wealthy author I'll be sure to plan it. :D

Crystal,
I am sure you will not know how difficult things are for a lazy person since you are the superwoman types. :)

And your idea is great. Someday my friend. Someday.. And I wish you become Ms Rowling - II. :)

Kasturi,
Thanks you. Glad you enjoyed it.
