Sketches

Most of my watercolor sketches end up getting lost as they are done on bits and pieces of paper. So some time back I bought some paper, cut it up and made a watercolor sketchbook so that these sketches, studies do not get lost. And guess what!! It has woked big time.

I thought of just quicky posting some of my watercolor sketches, which have later gone on to become bigger paintings. These are about 7x9 inches in size.  Mostly they were all done within half an hour to get a tonal/color composition going. And painting for each has already been posted in my blog before. I am sure it will be interesting to see the sketch and compare it with the painting. And it will be interesting for me to know what you think.

I love all your sketches, I can see in them how you refined some parts to make the paintings. The one that's most outstanding to me was the addition of branches to "Evening on Ganga. That little change worked so well. You really are a fantastic painter xx

Prabal, your sketches and finished paintings are SO VERY GOOD! I really admire, and, I must admit, envy your ability to paint so well in your sketches!

Theses sketches are fantastic! I often prefer sketches because sometimes that freshness and loose quality can be lost in a painting. I particularly like the one with the car lights reflecting on the road :0)

I recognize the painting just from seeing all the sketches! That must mean that I am super familiar with your work, which hopefully does not make me sound like a stalker. ;)

I LOVE seeing your sketches Prabal, nobody and I mean nobody does spontaneity and freshness better than you. :)

Pat,
Really happy to know that you liked these small little sketches.

Kathryn,
May be that I really dont know how to sketch and I end up painting in small formats. :)

Kasturi,
Thank you for your kind comment.

Sandra, Ramesh,
I think all of us artists would in general be drawn towards the sketches.

Anand sir,
Glad to know that you liked them.

Crystal,
Would not it be really awesome to have you as a stalker. I would love it any day. :) To call your comment generous would be the understatement of the year. :)
Thanks my friend.
