Plein air and updates

26th January is the date when Indian became a republic. So 26th January is celebrated as the republic day and every year and on and around republic day a huge flower show is held in Lalbagh (Lalbagh is a huge botanical garden) in Bangalore. This year I went to paint there. And instead of seeing flowers I saw a lot of people everywhere. And then there were these F&B stalls where everybody was crowding around. So I decided to paint the people and the stalls. And I had good fun painting that day.

I attended Chitrasanthe yesterday. And thank you all for wishing me luck and also for visiting my stall. But I guess my luck was really bad this time and I did not sell anything. I wish myself better luck next time. LOL.

Next weekend I'll be displaying 6 of my paintings at a group exhibition at Alliance Francaise, Bangalore. It will be on the 4th and 5th of February. And the timing is 2 PM to 7 PM on both the days. A play will also be staged on those two days called Snakes and ladders. So you can, plan to visit the exhibition and watch the play too. My theme for the exhibition is Bangalore. I hope to see you around. Please note that it will only be an exhibition and there will not be any sales happening there.

Signing off now and wishing you a great week ahead.

Love this painting, Prabal. You have achieved some great depth and intensity, and yet maintained the overall lightness of the scene!
I empathize with your disappointment of the recent exhibition.

LOVE the new painting Prabal. :)) So dramatic with all the shadows and light, and I love your intense colors mixed in with some neutrals. Really a powerful piece. And bummer about the no sales. :( I'll wish you lots of luck for next time too. :))

The painting of Lalbaug is awesome man! I also love the Chilika Stills. I saw all of them on facebook too. They are just plain amazing. I came to know from a fellow Hyderabadi who participated in this year's Chitrasanthe that the overall sales were very poor this time. I am sure you will be selling many works next time.
I hope your work is greatly appriciated at the Alliance Francaise exhibition. You desrve all the praise for such outstanding art.
Best wishes man,

This is a beautiful scene; The light, the perspective... And I love that bright yellow tea-shirt the person is wearing which really leads my eye in to the painting! I love scenes like this :0D

The flower show in Lalbagh must be spectacular, I would really love to see that. You didn't paint the flowers but you made a beautiful, sunny and colorful painting of the event. Love the bold shade and the light you pervaded the whole painting with.

nice work Prabal! the shadows and the colours depict the nice sunny afternoon. Missed the flower show and your painting stall at Chitra Santhe, may be you had set up after the chitrakala parishath gate!

Beautiful strong sense of light, Prabal. Gorgeous.
Disappointing you had no sales, but am sure that will change with the next one. In the meantime enjoy the show only one xx

Lovely painting Prabal, full of light and colour. Shame you didn't sell anything, but at least you got your work noticed, and potential buyers will hopefully be looking out for you next time.

Vinayak,
Thank you so much for that really elaborate comment you left. Feels good. I had been to the show at Alliance today. The response seemed to be really good.

Sandra,
While making this painting I had not really paid a lot of attention, but thanks for pointing out. That yellow really works there.

Great painting, Prabal. You aced it in the loose style, colors, long shadows and great design in composition. Don't let it bother you about no sells at the last show. The right buyer just missed your show that day. You never know, someone may call you from the show and ask for a painting in the future.

I attended Chitrasanthe and it was great to see so much art at one place. But there were far too many stalls for me to visit in the little time I had...So I guess I missed you. Better luck next time to you. Your painting is beautiful as always.
