At Barabati Fort

Barabati fort at Cuttack in Orissa is one of the last standing forts. I tried to capture a winter morning scene there. It was done from a photo. But at the end of it I was not very happy with it. It looked to me as if something was missing.

What is your first impression when you see it? What is that you find that is just not right? Well, I am not going to do anything to this painting, but I would like to find some answers to the questions in my mind.

This is a nice painting.Only thing I find disturbing is uneven distribution of light on the fort's walls. It makes the painting a bit unrealistic...But otherwise the painting is good.Don't worry!

For a person like me is always amazed to see not only water-color work but also any art! But for this painting what caught my attention is the path on which people are driving their cycles. The middle of the path is washed away (I guess....). Overall, the look of this painting is fantastic...:)

May be there's a difference in the tonal values that's making you unhappy!

There's no right or wrong for a painting - I know, you have heard that before and yet, we tend to know when something is amiss.

If I were you, I would tone down the colors and catch the light where it reflects the most.

The work is lovely. You are a fine artist.

It's very beautiful. You have painted it very nicely. Love to add it to barabati.com if you have permission. Keep it up...

Barabati.com is under construction. Being an individual, I don't have much time to develop it. But, i'm working on it. You can see a home page now. thanks.
