The best part for me in the painting was the wheel, which I did quiet spontaneously with minimal brushwork. My dream is to be able to do an entire painting in a similar manner. Minimal brush strokes and spontaneity.

Abandoned
This is a story book illustration kind of painting I did sometime back from a photo. The colour of the car was a shade of blue. I changed it to brown for 2 reasons. First a brown color would give it a better rusted feel. Second the warm color will stand out when placed against mostly cool greens.

Shadows
A Bollywood movie called Shadows releases today, which coincides with unveiling of my painting with the same name on my blog. The trailers of the film look as bad as this painting. :)
Anyways, this is one of many paintings that I have not been happy with. But with art you can always expect the unexpected. Some people do like this painting a lot. What do you have to say about it? An honest opinion would be great....

A busy looking painting
A friend once commented that none of my paintings look busy. I asked him what did he mean. He explained that none of my paintings were activity oriented. He liked paintings with lot of activity happening in them, which told a story very clearly. This painting was the result of that.
The place painted is the main entrance of Jagannath temple at Puri. It is called the 'Singha dwar' meaning the entrance guarded by lions. This place is always buzzing with devotees, tourists, locals, priests etc etc etc. My friend liked it. I hope you do.

Saty's wall
Saty’s window has not been opened for years
His wall has been nailed and tied
It has been broken and it cries
But Saty’s wall has hope
The hope still keeps it bright
The hope has broken out of shackles now
One day Saty’s wall will smile again.

My first stint as a teacher
One advise to everyone who plans to paint wine bottles in a live setup. Take a snap of the arrangement . The wine miraculously disappears from the bottle during painting. :).
Well this painting was supposed to be a demo tutorial for a friend who does sketching. Both of us did the painting. He finally got bored of my tutoring and went to sleep. I completed the painting at midnight and he completed his painting the next day. The first one is mine and second one is his. A really great effort by someone who was doing watercolors very first time and even a greater effort by the tutor. :)
