The day after

the day after - watercolorTitle - The day after
Size - 15 inch x 9.5 inch
Medium - Watercolor on paper

the day after experiment - watercolorTitle - The day after experiment
Size - 14.5 inch x 12 inch
Medium - Watercolor on paper

These were made from an arrangement of stuff on my table. First one is done in my usual style. Second one is experimental and is a bit of Jeanne Carbonetti. In the second one I also wanted to focus on the cointreau and the orange as cointreau is made from orange :). Hope you enjoy it.

Out of the two paintings, I like the first one best, but I am a realist so that is why I am drawn to that one.
I like the way the bottle is pointing to the glass...is it half empty or half full.

Thanks Kathy.. Even I like the first one. I just wanted to try some experimenting with the second one. Anyway the bottle is pointing to the glass because the glass has what was in the bottle originally. And for me the glass is always half full... though not for a long time. :)

scotch, wine and cointreau.

knockout combo :)

I also like the top one best.

from what angle is the glass half full ? I can see only half a peg left in that :P

cheers ;)

I like your usual style Prabal! so I'll vote for the first one; very well painted and a good composition!

These are both great Prabal - I like what you've done with the second, but as I'm also a realist, the first one is terrific.

Sahu,
The Glass is 'half (peg) full'. When you pour a drink you never fill till the brim anyway.. :)

Sadia,
Thanks for the vote. :)

Liz,
I too generally paint and like what can probably be called realist. So even I like the first one. Just experimented on the second one a bit.. Good to know that you liked it too.

Nice work, and thanks for the comment. I am learning oils. Hope to improve someday!
Best wishes.

Thanks Arti. Actually this was a 'remember the time' kind of painting. This was actually the scene the day after. :)

Vinayak,
Thanks a ton. I guess you are already amazing with oils..

Prabal,
I like them both, but, the first one keeps grabbing my eye. I think because the whites keep taking my eye around the painting. love the composition!

If only you posted WIP, one would have seen the glass with gradually diminishing level of liquid in it ;)
I liked the concept behind 2nd one.
