Motion Captured ???
This is done from a picture taken by a friend of mine (he does not know that I have painted it :)). This picture had a sense of motion and I wanted to see whether I can capture that sense of motion on paper. The paper that I was using for this painting was a completely new kind of paper (and cheap). It was very smooth and was very difficult to put glazes on. Finally had to manage with a single wash. Not sure whether I could pull it off.

Fooling around
What do you do when you desperately want to play around with some paint on paper, but cant figure out what exactly to paint. You look around to find some inspirations, but you don't. Well here is something I tried and it was fun.
I wet parts of the paper randomly and dropped some paint on to it randomly and then moved the paper around so that the paint moves around on paper. Then I tried to find some basic shapes and gave it a quick finish. Two of them are posted.

Back to 'painting' light
I came across this photograph on the net and again the lights and shadows were perfect to paint. I also like doors as a subject and this had a really lovely blue door. Initially I thought I'll name it the blue door, but then the first thing about this one was the morning rays hitting the porch. So its called 'First rays'. Care had to be taken to maintain geometrical correctness in the drawing.

A splash of colour
Inspiration of this painting came from the streets of Pipili which is on the way to Puri from Bhubaneswar in Orissa. Pipili is known for its colourful applique work and about 50 odd shops displaying this colourful craft adorn the streets of Pipili. I tried to capture that colourfulness of the place and made 2 paintings. This one is the better attempt.

Another Rocky painting
This is one of the obscured doors of the old quilla (fort) in Delhi. Yet another 'rocky' painting after 'mystic Udaygiri'.

A couple of days later
Well I just could not give up so soon. My disappointment with previous attempts lasted only a couple of days and I was again excited about doing my next painting. I had taken this photo at Udaygiri caves at Bhubaneswar and the afternoon light shining through the pillars created a very 'mystic' feeling. The outcome of attempting to paint the light was satisfactory. I was thrilled all over again about water colours.
