Dusk on Mandovi - II

Title - Dusk on Mandovi - II
Size - 15 x 19 inch
Medium - Watercolor on paper

My last painting was full of colors. This painting however is an experimentation with grays. I kept some colors in the foreground to have some drama and just let the eye move around. But I guess I went a little overboard it with it. I am not sure.....

By the way it was done on a pale yellow tinted sheet. Any guesses why???

Man this is lovely! You are doing really well. The tinted sheet has added to the warmth of the grays. Perhaps that was your intention!

Looks nice, Prabal. I like the hazy atmosphere. Did you use the yellow tinted paper to add warmth to the grays?

Sublime Hues, Sandra, Riya,
Thank you for your appreciation. Feels good.

Michelle, Vinayak,
You guys are bang on. :). I found the atmosphere to be a sort of warm yellow in Goa during dusk time. Using the yellow sheet helped to maintain that warm atmosphere throughout this piece.

I love how you plan your paintings so well before hand but then the finished piece looks so fresh and spontaneous. I really, really love those flashes of bright color against the greys. It's awesome. :)

Pat, Ak sir,
Thank you for your comment. Atmosphere is what was intended to be captured and its nice to know that you feel it has been captured.

Crystal,
I do plan most of the times. But its always a broad plan. And while painting the plan does change according to the situation. :)
