I tried this new something (first one) on quiet a glossy paper. To create textures (whatever is there) I was rolling my brush on the paper. How do you think it has come off!!!!
And the second one was done last Sunday in an outdoor session at Sheshadri public library in Bangalore. I had never been to this place before. But it was a beautiful place and I loved painting there.

They both look nice, Prabal. I find glossy or cold pressed papers hard to work with. You did a nice job with it.
I especially like the color variations in the leaves with reds in- between, in windows and shadows on the ground :)

These are both really lovely Prabal! Maybe I should experiment with different papers some time. I tend not to because the paper is so expensive and I worry about wasting it! But, I must try something new!

This paper is not a watercolor paper at all. This is kinds thick normal paper. The paper you draw charts on in school. And it comes very cheap. Out here it costs about quarter of a british pound. So there is no fear of spoiling it. :)

Nice painting on both but the bottom one has more contrast and I do love contrasts. I think the paper that you used on the top on is what we have here in the US and it is called poster board. Not a watercolor paper. The only thing about using something like this is that it is not a good acid free paper that will hold up through the years.
Try a hot press wc paper of a 4-5 ply "plate finish" bristol board.

Beautiful work Prabal! I do love both of them, but (now, I hope you take this as a compliment as I know that some 'fine artists' object to what I'm about to say. If that didn't make sense just know that I am trying to pay you a heartfelt compliment here!) there's an illustrative quality to the top one that I LOVE. A real storytelling piece you know? I think it's in your line work which you are very good at. :) The bottom one is lovely too, the colors look perfect together.
And I am not too fond of working on smooth paper, but I love the look of it.

Because I've heard some fine artists take offense when their work is compared to illustration.

Wonderful job on both of these watercolors, Prabal. I especially like the second one..very realistic and love the leaves with the different colors added. I as well, like to experiment with pastel paper..most of the time I like the smoother of the paper and occasionally I work with sanded paper which takes more pastels but gives it a richer look. Excellent work, Prabal.
