Outdoors and Indoors

Outdoor painting is very exciting to start with. But it is also a great dampener by the time I finish the painting. I generally get caught up with all the details and end up describing the scene, rather than capturing the mood of the place in my outdoor paintings. And sometimes though I start well I get carried away towards the end and spoil a painting just in the last 5 minutes or so. But it is a great study for painting the same scene back in the studio and also a great learning experience. But on the flip side the studio painting may lack the spontaneity of the plain air one. Here I am sharing some such examples. Hope you enjoy it.

Love them all, Prabal, but I favor the studio paintings. [I guess that says something about me. :)]

Fabulous paintings - and you've taught me something too.
What you've taught me is how I prefer light in a painting. I love the studio of the first pair, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel :)
In the seconr pair, I prefer the plein aire, for the quality of light in the sky - and in the water, the lights and darks.

Thank you, Prabal *hugs* xx

All of these are fabulous! But, I must say that I prefer the en plein aire paintings - Somehow they just seem fresher and more lively :0)

Prabal, they are all beautiful, from the looseness of the plein air paintings to the detail in the studio paintings all of them are wonderful in their own ways. Superb!

Gary, Hilda,
Thank you so much. I am happy that you are enjoying my work.

Kathryn,
I think may be because studio paintings are more 'objectively' painted. :)

Sandra,
Yes even I think the plein air ones have more spontaneity. Thank you for your kind comment. :)

Carol, Shubhankar,
Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed them.

That is very, very interesting. I love all of them but do see that the first ones are more spontaneous, but the studio one's have a very calm, mellow feel to them that I like too. Does it kind of make you feel like you have a dual personality???
