Muvattupuzah - IV

Its taken a little more time to get to number four. But better late than never. So here is it Muvattupuzah - IV. And I also did a painting sitting on the divider of a road, because I got a good composition from there. This was last Sunday. The subject was difficult. I think I managed it in the end. What do you think about it??

Via Belur

This is my last one of Chikmagalur series. But this place is not exactly in Chikmagalur. On our way back to Bangalore from Chikmagalur we stopped at a place called Belur. It has ruins of a Hoayasala temple and the residing God is Channa Kesava (Handsome Krishna). I was blown by the workmanship of the artists who built this temple. If you happen to pass by Belur, make sure you stop and watch this poetry on stone. Find more about it here on wiki.

Coming back to the painting.. It was really tricky with all the darks and stuff. When I finished the painting I thought I pulled it off. But later when I took a picture and saw it on computer screen it did not look that great. I took another picture. And this also did not come out so good. But anyway I thought I'll post it.

Chikmagalur Series - VII

Take II

Well I did try to do do this one again. Thought of doing it differently to keep myself interested. After completing it I think I learnt a lesson. And the lesson was no matter how bad the original piece is, it is still the original.

I stand alone

Seeing art is good. But too much of it can be a little distracting. At least that is what happened to me. Because of internet everyday we are able to see so many paintings in so many different styles by so many artists. And suddenly I wanted to incorporate all that into my paintings. I kept making one disaster after the other and just did not realize what was going wrong.

So I took a break for some time to clear up my mind. I just did not do anything related to art. And when I finally painted after this gap I realized that all the hangover was gone and I was not trying to force different styles into my painting. I was back to painting with my instinct, my colors, my style. And the outcome was good enough for me. I was satisfied.

Any suggestions

This Sunday it was down to just PC and me and we had decided to paint indoors at my place. I had taken a photo of this building sometime back and that became our subject.

I took liberty to change the composition quiet a bit. There were more houses in the background which I removed. The big tree got added from my memory and another tree which was there opposite to the structure was removed. And I also changed the proportion of the building. PC kind of stuck to the photo.

I do not have a name for it till now. All suggestions are welcome.
