I am not only delighted , but also feel blessed to be part of this watercolor group exhibition in Mumbai, which features my idols and some other great artists.
My painting titled 'The Minimalists' has been selected for 86th All India Annual Art Exhibition of AIFACS (All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society). I am indeed honored as my work along with all other selected works in different media from across the country will be on display at the AIFACS gallery. The show opens tomorrow (11 Dec 2013) evening and will continue till 30th December 2013.
If you happen to be in Delhi then this is a show that must not be missed. The display will be open from 11 AM to 7 PM on all days. If you visited the show then do let me know and send me some pics if possible.
'Bengaluru on Location' finally closed last Tuesday (26th Nov 2013) after 4 days of show at Chitrakala Parishath. The response this time was really overwhelming. So first of all I want to thank each and every one who helped in making this such a success.
Here are some pics and a short report on the show.
The opening was a big party. It was opened by my sketching club Pencil Jammers. Though everybody had to go through the torture of my nervous speech, I feel they enjoyed the show and the food.
Media was very kind to me in their coverage and reviews. Three top English dailies, namely New Indian Express, The Hindu and Deccan Chronicle and one local daily (Ee Nadu) covered the show and gave good reviews.
Those who missed the show can take a virtual tour of the show below.
The show was well attended on all four days by people from all walks of life. Everybody seemed to enjoy the show. Many people came back with their families to see the show for the second time. Many artists came back with other artists to see the show again. For some people it was like seeing a dreamy Bangalore in a gallery.
I'll leave you with some comments from the visitor's book and a few more pics.
"Brilliant Work Prabal. This is the first time I am seeing all your finished watercolors together, and I am really overwhelmed. Love the play of lights and shadows and the beautiful concepts. Keep it up and hope to see more..."
"Beautiful. Excellent watch, each and every one."
"By attending this exhibition my interest towards art has certainly increased. Thank you."
"Excellent impressionist style of watercolors. Loved it."
"Splendid collection of a dreamy Bangalore."
"Beautiful art works with a great sense of perspective and color. "
My group show titled Verve is currently going on in Art Perspective Gallery in Delhi. It opened yesterday and will be on till 15th August 2012. I could not make it to the opening. So I really dont know what happened. But here are a few press coverage about the show.
Hi everyone. Not really been active here for sometime now. Reason for that is that I was on a small break and was consciously keeping away from the computer. I am back now and with some really good news.
I am really happy and honored to announce about my next group show. It starts 12th July at Art perspective gallery in New Delhi. My works will be shown along with 18 other watercolorists from all over India. And the fact that some of them are people I have idolized makes it so much special for me.
Unfortunately I'll not be able to make it as I am just back from a break and moreover Delhi is not really near Bangalore. But if you happen to be in Delhi please do visit the show. And if you find something in the newspapers do let me know too.
I could not get to paint during my break. That is like for about fifteen days. Yesterday I went out painting en plein air and it was just awesome. More on that later. Till then take care.
26th January is the date when Indian became a republic. So 26th January is celebrated as the republic day and every year and on and around republic day a huge flower show is held in Lalbagh (Lalbagh is a huge botanical garden) in Bangalore. This year I went to paint there. And instead of seeing flowers I saw a lot of people everywhere. And then there were these F&B stalls where everybody was crowding around. So I decided to paint the people and the stalls. And I had good fun painting that day.
I attended Chitrasanthe yesterday. And thank you all for wishing me luck and also for visiting my stall. But I guess my luck was really bad this time and I did not sell anything. I wish myself better luck next time. LOL.
Next weekend I'll be displaying 6 of my paintings at a group exhibition at Alliance Francaise, Bangalore. It will be on the 4th and 5th of February. And the timing is 2 PM to 7 PM on both the days. A play will also be staged on those two days called Snakes and ladders. So you can, plan to visit the exhibition and watch the play too. My theme for the exhibition is Bangalore. I hope to see you around. Please note that it will only be an exhibition and there will not be any sales happening there.
Signing off now and wishing you a great week ahead.

Title - Arrived or Moving?? Size - 14 x 22 inch Medium - Watercolor on paper Photo by - Satyesh
Last Sunday I did this painting and was using Indian handmade paper after a long time. The paper has a good texture and can take any amount of punishment. It has a few drawbacks too. But anyway I was painting very freely and confidently on this one and finished this painting in about an hours time. Really enjoyed doing this.
Unfortunately I'll not be taking this one for my exhibition as I may not be able to get it framed in time. But anyway I am also sharing with you the poster for my upcoming show. Hope you like it.
Contour drawing (without lifting the pencil from paper) - Anthony Martin getting wicket of Suresh Raina in recently concluded one-day series in West Indies.
Another Contour drawing - My sister having a really nice nap.
I have not painted much since last week. So nothing really worthwhile to post. In such situations generally my sketchbook comes to my rescue. So here are some sketches from my sketchbook.
And yes a video. I made a small video as a trailer for my upcoming show. Have a look. Share it with your friends if you like it.
